I, of course, try to be that person, but obviously it can be difficult to listen to the person you are upset or angry with. My daughter is a very emotional person and I felt that sometimes she needed some advice for someone (or something in this case) that would not judge her or tell her to feel differently. She has really enjoyed having the book and I'm glad that she has a resource when she does not feel comfortable talking to a person in her life.
My daughter enjoys this book but I was a little disappointed at how much writing was in the book from the previous owner.
Wonderful, easy to read book, but I think young girl will do better reading this with an adult or parent they trust and can open up to.
Some of this book is for younger girls but your older young ladies will pick out what they want to find out from the varied content.American Girl books are all well thought out, well written, and well presented. I tend to complicate what I say, when my child doesn't want or need to hear all of my words. In many cases, she reads them over and over. Read it as a parent. Worth every penny. Plus, American girl books are designed to let a girl read on her own and be alone with her thoughts, so I just get in the way of that process.
Practical and real advice presented in a way that a young lady wants to read and absorb. What more could you ask for. Being a dad, this book makes it easy to approach some subjects that are awkward for girls to hear from a dad. It's approach will simplify some subjects that dumbfound you. Most important, my daughter loves them all and reads the books cover to cover.
Really hit on the points that young womanhood face. A perfect book for young ladies entering those those confusing years. As a former teacher(30 years with this age group), I highly recommend to families that need a spring board to important discussions.
